The mill is on a
hill side. From the driveway, you walk across a bridge and into
the mill at 1st floor level. This means that there are no stairs
to climb to enter Carders Corner or the Flannel Factory. You have
to go down one flight of stairs to reach the Bobbin Box but, because of
the hill side, it is at garden level and can also be entered directly
from the garden. There is one flight of stairs to climb to reach
the Weavers Workshop. Click here for details of
accessibility.
Carders Corner,
Flannel Factory and Weavers Workshop have all been rated 4 star by the
Welsh Tourist board. Bobbin Box was completely refitted in 2006 to
the same high standard but has not been rated yet. Each apartment has
its own bathroom, kitchen, lounge/dining room and two bedrooms:
Note - there is just enough room for
an additional 3/4 bed or cot in the twin bedrooms and in Bobbin Box's
single bedroom.
Heating: The apartments are
centrally heated from September - June. In addition, there is a
wood effect electric stove in the lounge and an electric heater in the
kitchen. There is no extra charge made for electricity.
What to expect: Duvets, bed linen,
towels and tea towels, oven gloves, toilet roll, kitchen roll and
cleaning materials are provided. You will also find tea, coffee,
sugar and fresh semi-skimmed milk waiting for you when you arrive, to start your
holiday with a refreshing drink. For a holiday of more than 1
week, clean linen will be provided and your apartment will be cleaned
throughout.
Young children:
Children are very welcome at the mill and really enjoy splashing in the
river (they must be supervised in the gardens). A cot and a 3/4
bed are available on request. Some linen is available but please
discuss with Trevor or Chris when you book. A high chair is also
available on request.
Laundry: An iron, ironing
board and clothes horse are provided in each apartment. A shared
laundry facility is available, free of charge, with a washing machine
and tumble drier.
Gardens:
Guests are welcome to go wherever they wish in the mill's 9 acres of
gardens and woodland. Children should be supervised, especially
near the river. Garden tables and chairs are provided in the
peaceful riverside garden.
There is plenty of space to move them to your preferred
picnic site, perhaps next to the river, close to the waterwheel or in
the butterfly garden. Sun beds are available. A barbeque is
also available for guests to use.
Parking: There is plenty of
parking in the mill's car park at the top of the drive. You can drive
right up to the entrance to drop off your luggage.
Telephones: Mobile phones do
not work in the valley but there is a pay phone in the hallway on the
2nd floor (one flight up from the mill entrance).
